desserts!

Don't forget to order dessert after your lunch!  I used to be a customer of The Wedding Cafe before I started working here.  When I had first started being a customer of The Wedding Cafe, I kept coming back because of the Pumpkin Crunch.  You can imagine my disappointment when one day I called in an order and Bryson said that they no longer carried Pumpkin Crunch.  Sad! :(

At least there was the Chocolate Lovin' Spoon Cake added to the menu, which Coco (my lunch buddy when I used to work at UH) and I used to share after our lunch of splitting a chicken walnut sandwich, cup of soup, and peach iced tea.  The Chocolate Lovin' Spoon Cake is decadent... I think that's the best word to describe it. :)

I started working at The Wedding Cafe last August, and was really happy when I found out that we get free meals (another perk of working for The Wedding Cafe)...but I was even happier when I found out that we were bringing back the Pumpkin Crunch! It's the only homemade dessert that we carry.

We also have the 24 K Carrot Cake, pick-me-up, and dessert of the week, so there are lots of choices to satisfy your sweet tooth. 

ACAI!

I had the hardest time figuring out how to say the word ACAI, but once I tasted it I just KNEW it had to become a part of my daily vocabulary! Acai (pronounced Ah-Sigh-EE) is not only considered Oprah's #1 superfood, but it's jam-packed with antioxidants making it an excellent snack, lunch, dessert... you name it! So you can imagine my crazy delight when Tanna and Bryson mentioned carrying acai at The Wedding Cafe! And after weeks of sampling, testing, dabbling with different fruits and toppings, I have to say, The Wedding Cafe's acai is the GREATEST! (Ask Catherine Toth from the Advertisier, she even blogged about it!) We serve the acai with the BEST granola (and trust me, I'm super picky about my granola) along with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries topped off with honey. I've done my fair share of gushing over acai and I've also done my share of searching for the best acai on this island... if you don't believe me, try it yourself at our Ward Warehouse location. You won't be disappointed! :)

PS: Also note the biodegradable bowl and spoon it comes in... YAY for going GREEN! That's an all around taste good and feel good treat. YUM!

team bonding

Working at The Wedding Cafe comes with a lot of perks!  This past month, we all worked super hard, with one event after another...including the Spring Food and New Products show at the Blaisdell!    To reward us, Tanna and Bryson took us to Alliway (super cute store in Ward Warehouse that sells very stylish handbags, jewelry, and accessories... we heart Alliway!).  Tanna said we had 15 minutes to choose any item in the store as a reward for working so hard.  OMG...15 minutes!  Anyone who knows me at all knows that I am an indecisive person, hence an indecisive shopper, especially in a store that has tons of cute stuff.  But I love hangbags. Since we could choose any item in the store, I instinctively headed for the handbags and after much vacillation, I picked a super cute white bag. 

Tanna and Bryson also took us to Kincaid's afterwards to celebrate.  Yummm!

 Team bonding is ALWAYS fun!  The cafe team gets together just to relax and enjoy each other's company.  Past team bonding events included making our own products at Chemistry and watching "27 Dresses".

I started working at The Wedding Cafe last August, and back then there was only Tanna, Bryson, Tessa, and four cafe workers, including myself.  Now there are 12 of us!

Welcome to THE WEDDING CAFE's B-L-O-G. This "blog" space (what does BLOG stand for anyway?) is such a foreign, new concept to me. Shoot, we JUST got email when I went to college and only learned how to surf the internet when I was getting married! And I'm not even 30! (OK, OK, I'll be 30 in five months but still...) Computers are SO amazing.

We had a staff meeting last week and all of my cute little employees said, "Hey, we should have a blog!" "Yeah!" "Everyone has a blog!" "We should blog!" "BLOG BLOG BLOG!" So... without further ado, welcome to our blog. We'll ALL be blogging about things that are cool, new, savvy, fun, out-of-the-box, extraordinary or just plain pretty. So stay tuned...

But first, let me introduce you to the belles behind the blogs. Or as we call them "blog belles!"

TESSA :: Tessa is the "GM" (I know, big title! She SELF proclaimed herself as the GM!) and runs the daily operations at both cafes. She hires (and fires!), trains and works directly with our staff. If you get excellent customer service, it's all Tessa. If you get so-so service, it's all Tessa! And if you didn't know, Tessa is my SISTER!





JAMIE :: Jamie's our cafe supervisor! Super cute, super sweet and a little BOSSY! Ha!

NICOLE :: Nicole's our go-to-gal. She works behind the scenes on ALL the little details. She obsessed with baskets, organizers and highlighters. That's why we love her!









RISE :: Rise's our veteran employee and a mini genius! She's getting her Masters at UH and did a long, lengthy project on..... ROBOTS! Get why we dig her? She's weird and funny!!!









CHRISTINA :: Christina is a spicy-tuna fiend! She's one of our fastest "chefs" and has an obsession with handbags!











THALIA :: Thay is our pageant-running, do-good-diva who loves all things PINK and SPARKLY!










KENDALL :: Kendall is the world's best sink scrubber! She's super clean and ultra cool. She doubles up as a night time closer and Costco belle runner!










STEPHANIE :: Steph's a culinary whiz who is the ONLY person who knows our secret pumpkin crunch recipe.... don't you all wanna be her BEST FRIEND now?!









RACHEL :: Blonde hair, blue eyes.... moved here from HONG KONG! Rachel's a world traveler and has a heart of gold. She's also our honorary sponge changer and table varnisher. An all round fix-it kinda gal!









KELSI :: Kelsi's quick, cool, and uber efficient! She writes like a type writer (literally!) and claims to make a killer spam musubi!










MANDY :: New to the islands, Mandy's a sharp chic who loves doggies... she's currently IN TRAINING so be cool to her!










ALAINA :: Alaina's the SWEEEEETEST person ever... always giving a hug and laughing the day away. You'll love her the minute you meet her. OR you'll be down right JEALOUS of her super long eye lashes! :)




And that's it! This is ME and my HUBBY Bryson... we're the owners, janitors, secretary, accountant, writers, runners and marketers for The Wedding Cafe. We've been happily married since 2004 and LOVE what we do.
